JPYC Inc., operator of Japan's first fully regulated yen-pegged stablecoin, has closed an extension of its Series B round that brings total proceeds to roughly 6 billion yen, or about $38 million. The latest tranche includes a 1 billion yen investment from AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, a Tokyo-listed logistics company that handles last-mile delivery for Amazon Japan.
The funding pushes JPYC's cumulative capital raised to $106 million across seven rounds since November 2021, according to venture data provider Tracxn. AZ-COM's investment was priced at 8,630 yen per share for 116,000 Class B1 preferred shares, giving the logistics firm a 2.9% voting stake.
AZ-COM Maruwa plans to settle outsourcing fees and driver compensation for approximately 2,300 business partners and independent contractors using JPYC. The company reported 230.5 billion yen in revenue for the fiscal year ended March 2026 and operates a nationwide network covering all 47 prefectures. Its subcontractor base is dominated by small carriers and owner-operators who currently rely on bank transfers that carry fees and 30-to-60-day settlement cycles.
JPYC is issued under Japan's fund transfer business license as a Type 1 Electronic Payment Instrument. The stablecoin maintains a 1:1 peg backed by bank deposits and Japanese government bonds, with reserves required to exceed 101% of outstanding tokens. It currently circulates on Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Kaia, and integrates with the LINE ecosystem's Unifi wallet.
