Lojas Quero-Quero posted an 8.8% year-over-year revenue increase in the second quarter of 2026, reaching BRL 726.29 million, yet the bottom line deteriorated as the net loss widened to BRL 51.2 million from BRL 46.01 million a year earlier. The market reacted negatively, sending shares lower after the earnings release.
For the first half of 2026, revenue climbed to BRL 1.423 billion from BRL 1.339 billion in the same period last year, while the six-month net loss more than doubled to BRL 112.87 million from BRL 77.11 million. The divergence between top-line growth and deepening losses underscores the pressure on the company's core retail margins.
The earnings arrive amid a portfolio rationalization that began earlier in the year. In the first quarter, the company closed 14 stores in Rio Grande do Sul, representing 2.4% of its network, while opening only two new locations. Management characterized the closures as a seasonal, one-time portfolio adjustment and maintained its full-year target of up to 10 new store openings in 2026. The chain still operates 574 stores across nearly 500 cities in five Brazilian states.
