Saudi Arabia's benchmark Tadawul All Share Index closed 0.05% higher in the latest session, a modest advance that contrasts with the sharper swings seen earlier in the week.
The gain, reported by Investing.com, marks a tentative stabilization after a volatile stretch that saw the index shed 0.7% on August 6 to finish at 10,811.57 points. That drop was its largest single-day decline in a week and ended a five-month winning streak. The session was driven by heavy selling in index heavyweights: Saudi Aramco fell 0.9%, ACWA Power slid more than 4%, and Al Rajhi Bank declined 0.7%.
Breadth on August 6 was decidedly negative, with 183 stocks declining versus 61 advancing and 19 of 22 sectors in the red. Yet turnover jumped 11% to 5.7 billion riyals, suggesting active repositioning rather than a liquidity vacuum. The parallel market (Nomu) also slipped, closing down 0.5% at 22,027.78 points.
Zooming out, the weekly picture through August 6 was constructive: TASI rose 2.09% for the week, adding 221.85 points, while total market capitalization climbed 80.61 billion riyals to 9.53 trillion riyals. Seventeen sectors advanced, led by insurance (+7.55%), basic materials (+3.3%), and banks (+2.5%). Weekly turnover surged 30.5% to 28.82 billion riyals, lifting the daily average to 5.36 billion riyals.
