Strategy, the company formerly known as MicroStrategy, sold 1,638 bitcoin for approximately $105 million, reducing its total holdings to 842,138 BTC, according to a disclosure reported by The Block on August 3. The transaction represents the latest execution under a board-authorized Bitcoin Monetization Program adopted on June 29, 2026, which permits sales of up to $1.25 billion in bitcoin to fund a U.S. dollar reserve, preferred dividends, and share repurchases.

The company's bitcoin treasury now accounts for roughly 4% of the 21 million bitcoin supply cap, valued at approximately $53 billion at current market prices. Bitcoin traded near $62,628 with a 24-hour volume of $17.8 billion and a market capitalization of $1.26 trillion, according to crypto-metrics data captured the same day.

The June 29 framework, formally titled the Digital Credit Capital Framework, authorized the monetization program alongside a board-approved USD Reserve policy. Strategy's board did not adopt this policy during the July 30 earnings call; the call reported a quarter's results under a policy that had already existed for a month.

During Q2, the company sold 3,620 BTC and grew its USD reserve to $3.75 billion, covering more than 2.1 years of preferred dividend and interest obligations. Recent filings show a pattern of bitcoin-to-cash conversion tied to specific corporate needs.
