Michael Saylor's latest social media post has reignited market expectations that Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR) will announce another Bitcoin purchase this week. The executive chairman shared a tracker screenshot labeled "Bitcoin Drive engaged" on Sunday, a phrase investors have come to treat as a reliable precursor to formal acquisition filings.
The signal arrives days after Strategy's Q2 2026 earnings revealed an $8.6 billion GAAP net loss, driven almost entirely by an $8.32 billion non-cash unrealized loss on its Bitcoin holdings under fair-value accounting. Revenue came in at $122.37 million, fractionally below consensus, while diluted earnings per share landed at negative $24.45 against an analyst forecast of positive $0.79.
Despite the accounting loss, the company's Bitcoin position grew 11% quarter-over-quarter to 843,775 BTC as of July 30, making Strategy the largest institutional holder globally. The firm controls approximately 4.02% of Bitcoin's 21 million fixed supply, a concentration no single public entity has held in the asset's history.
Year-to-date through Q2, Strategy acquired 174,895 BTC while selling 3,620 BTC, a net increase of 25%. Bitcoin per share rose 5% sequentially to 210,824 satoshis. The company raised $8.4 billion in the quarter alone — more than any single quarter in the prior year — including $5.5 billion through its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC).
