A White House meeting scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday is set to bring together President Donald Trump, CFTC Chair Michael Selig, and executives from major crypto and prediction-market firms. The session is intended as a kickoff for the CFTC's first Innovation Advisory Committee meeting the following day, August 20, at 1:00 p.m. ET in Washington.

According to people familiar with the plans, attendees are expected to include representatives from Coinbase, Ripple, a16z, Chainlink, Paradigm, Kalshi, and the Digital Chamber trade association. SEC Chair Paul Atkins and Patrick Witt, executive director of the president's council of advisers for digital assets, are also expected to participate. Neither the White House nor the two regulators had published a formal agenda or confirmed participant list at the time of reporting.

The gathering arrives at a pivotal moment for digital-asset policy. The CLARITY Act, which would establish a federal market-structure framework for digital assets, remains stalled in the Senate after lawmakers left for the August recess. A procedural cloture vote requiring at least 60 votes is scheduled for September 15.

Banking groups have opposed provisions that could allow stablecoin issuers to offer yield-bearing products, arguing they would compete with traditional deposits. An ethics provision has also emerged as a point of contention.
