Article Highlights

Excerpts from the article

  • Alupar Investimento S.A. reported a 14.6% year-on-year drop in regulatory net income to R$159 million for the second quarter of 2026, missing…
  • The company attributed the profit contraction to higher debt-service costs tied to the IPCA inflation index and to execution costs on transmission…
  • Investor relations director Luiz Coimbra told CNN Brasil that transmission revenue increased but was partially offset by generation curtailments…

Despite the profit miss, the board approved interim dividends of R$69.2 million — R$0.21 per Unit and R$0.07 per common and preferred share — payable by October 6 to holders of record on August 13. The payout follows a quarter the company described as having "robust operating results." Net debt stood at R$9.5 billion at quarter-end.

Alupar has now missed consensus estimates in four consecutive quarters. With a large share of debt indexed to IPCA and ONS curtailments persisting, the key question is whether transmission growth can absorb rising financial costs and generation volatility before margins stabilize.
