The milestone arrives just days before Apple reports fiscal third-quarter earnings on 30 July. Analysts expect revenue of $108.96 billion and earnings of $1.89 per share, according to Fiscal AI data cited by TradingView. The report will test whether the valuation lead rests on Apple’s own numbers or was merely borrowed from Nvidia’s bad day.
The $5 trillion threshold is more than a round number. Nvidia first crossed it in October 2025 during the peak of the AI investment boom. Apple’s brief touch of the same level signals that the market is now willing to assign a comparable premium to a company whose AI strategy relies on leasing compute capacity rather than building it. Whether that premium sticks depends on the earnings print and on whether the semiconductor rotation has further to run.
For investors, the central question is no longer whether Apple can reach $5 trillion—it already has, if only briefly. The unresolved tension is whether the company’s capital-light AI model can sustain a valuation that the market previously reserved for the primary builder of AI infrastructure.
