Institutional flows mirrored the risk-off shift. U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $225 million in net outflows on Thursday, snapping a seven-day inflow streak. Cumulative inflows stood at $51.63 billion, with net assets at $78.82 billion, but the sudden reversal underscored how quickly macro anxiety can override the longer-term accumulation narrative. Ethereum spot ETFs, by contrast, attracted $26 million in inflows, down from $73 million the previous day, with cumulative inflows edging to $11.25 billion. The divergence suggests that institutional positioning in Ether held firmer, even as broader sentiment deteriorated.
Altcoins bore the brunt of the selling. Dogecoin dropped 5% to $0.069, XRP fell 2% to $1.11, Solana lost 3% to $76, and Hyperliquid’s HYPE declined 4% over the week. The DeFi sector, however, bucked the trend with a 9.8% surge, hinting at pockets of rotation within the crypto ecosystem rather than a uniform exodus.
Technical levels now serve as the market’s near-term anchors. Bitcoin’s immediate support sits between $64,200 and $64,500, while Ethereum traders are watching the $1,840–$1,860 zone. A sustained break below these thresholds could accelerate liquidations, especially given the elevated derivatives leverage noted in Ether markets. On the upside, Bitcoin would need to reclaim $66,000 and Ethereum $1,900 to signal a meaningful shift in momentum.
