Nestlé is expanding its portfolio of products designed specifically for consumers using GLP-1 weight-loss medications, moving beyond its initial launches to reformulate mainstream brands and develop new protein-based beverages that target the physiological side effects of drugs like Wegovy and Zepbound.
The Swiss food giant first entered the space in May 2024 with Vital Pursuit, a frozen-meal line portioned for the reduced appetites of GLP-1 users and fortified with protein and fiber. Six months later it added Boost Pre-Meal Hunger Support, a 45-calorie whey-protein shot containing 10 grams of protein that Nestlé says stimulates the body's natural GLP-1 response when consumed 10 to 30 minutes before a meal. The mocha-flavored shots retail at roughly $10.99 for a four-pack on Amazon and in select CVS stores.
Clinical data published in the journal Metabolites showed that a pre-meal drink with 10 grams of Nestlé's proprietary whey-protein microgels lowered glucose response and increased circulating GLP-1, the gut hormone that enhances satiety and slows gastric emptying. The microgel technology, covered by 11 patents filed in the past decade, solves a long-standing formulation problem: concentrated whey protein typically clumps when heat-treated for shelf stability, but the microgel structure maintains texture and flavor at high protein loads.
