Ripple Prime, the institutional brokerage arm of Ripple, launched support for real-world asset (RWA) perpetual swaps on October 15, 2026, giving institutional clients around-the-clock exposure to more than 100 traditional markets including equities, equity indices, ETFs, metals, energy, and foreign exchange.
The swaps reference perpetual futures contracts listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, a decentralized derivatives venue. This structure allows trading to continue through weekends and other periods when conventional exchanges are closed. Michael Higgins, International CEO of Ripple Prime, described the offering as the meeting point of traditional and digital markets, noting that institutions want exposure to traditional asset classes with the round-the-clock access and efficiencies of digital infrastructure.
Institutional trading firm Virtu is among the early clients using the service. Clients can cross-margin RWA swap exposures against other asset classes supported by Ripple Prime and use Ripple USD (RLUSD) as collateral, creating a single counterparty relationship with centralized risk management and consolidated margin across portfolios. The service is currently available under Ripple Prime's CIV BVI license, with plans to expand into additional regions.
