The launch builds on Ripple Prime's expanding prime brokerage architecture. In August 2026, the firm introduced a Delta One desk offering Total Return Swaps across US-listed equities, indices, and digital assets with 24/7 cross-margining. That expansion followed Ripple's 2025 acquisition of Hidden Road, a non-bank prime broker that cleared $3 trillion annually across markets with more than 300 institutions. Ripple Prime now operates with more than $1 billion in regulatory net capital and closed an upsized $275 million notes placement in August 2026.
Interest in RWA perpetual swaps has grown rapidly. Open interest on major venues has risen from negligible levels to approximately $9 billion over the past year as traditional market makers and hedge funds have embraced the instruments. Some participants combine perpetual contracts with underlying assets in basis trades to capture price differences while limiting broader market risk, while others use them for pure directional positions.
The offering positions Ripple Prime as a direct competitor to traditional prime brokers such as Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, with the key differentiator being infrastructure that never closes. However, the service depends on Hyperliquid and Trade.xyz as reference venues, creating concentration risk. Regulatory uncertainty across multiple jurisdictions may also limit geographic expansion. The convergence of traditional and digital finance infrastructure continues to accelerate, with implications for liquidity depth in RWA derivatives and the integration of blockchain technology into capital markets.
